Glossary

  • Cannabinoids are chemical compounds found in the cannabis plant that interact with receptors in the brain and body to create a wide variety of effects. There exist dozens, and potentially more than 100, cannabinoids in the cannabis plant, including the two most famous THC and CBD.

  • THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol): The prominent psychoactive compound found in marijuana, meaning this is primary cannabinoid that is associated with the stereotypical marijuana high . THC also provides relief to medical patients suffering from a wide variety of conditions including chronic pain, nausea, PTSD, Alzheimer’s disease, Crohn’s disease, cancer, appetite loss, inflammation, and much more!

  • CBD (Cannabidiol): The medical community is very interested in CBD, another cannabinoid found in marijuana. Unlike THC, most cannabinoids aren’t about getting you stoned. In fact, CBD has essentially no psychoactive effects. CBD influences cannabinoid receptor activity and encourages production of the body’s natural endocannabinoids. Interestingly, CBD also affects activity beyond the endocannabinoid system and can also interact with opioid, dopamine, and serotonin receptors. The ability of CBD to interact with so many different systems throughout the body suggests it has the potential to open new frontiers in psychiatry and medicine. CBD has a truly incredible amount of potential medical benefits including but certainly not limited to anxiety, severe to moderate pain, insomnia, epileptic seizures, arthritis, depression, substance abuse recovery and helping fight cancer.

  • CBG (Cannabigerol): CBG is another cannabinoid found in marijuana, though usually in very small amounts in raw flower. Early testing done with CBG is extremely promising, especially when treating glaucoma, and Huntington’s Disease. CBG may also greatly reduce the growth of certain cancer cells.

  • THCV (Tetrahydrocannabivarin): THCV has a similar molecular structure to THC however offers a wide range of additional medical effects. This cannabinoid is known to reduce panic attacks, suppress appetite, and stimulate bone growth. It has also been known to improve the quality of life of patients suffering from Alzheimer’s disease by reducing tremors and improving motor functions.

  • Terpenes are oils which add therapeutic value to cannabis, and create aromas based on their unique properties. Essentially the combination of terpenes and cannabinoids are what make each strain have its specific medicinal effects. There are over one hundred different terpenes to be found in cannabis.

  • Myrcene is the most common cannabis terpene and is known for promoting sedative, pain relieving and relaxing effects. It produces a musky, citrus and herbal aroma.

  • Pinene as you could guess often promotes at strong sweet pine odor. It can be good for reducing inflammation and anxiety, and can sometimes come with a boost of energy.

  • Humulene has a strong earth and wood smell. It can be an appetite suppressant and provide pain relief. Some of your favorite strains like GSC and Sunset Sherbet contain Humulene.

  • With a strong citrus splash this terpene is easily recognizable. Limonene is the ideal terpene for stress and anxiety relief and to promote an all around great time.

  • Caryophyllene is unique as it also acts as a cannabinoid, activating our endocannabinoid system and providing strong anti-inflammatory effects. It is often described as spicy or peppery.

  • Terpinolene has a sweet and spicy aroma and has strong uplifting effects. It is present is some famous sativa strains like Jack Herer, and Ghost Train Haze.

  • The term full spectrum refers to a type concentrate extracted from the marijuana plant via various methods. While many cannabis concentrates isolate and dramatically increase the potency of a single a cannabinoid for example THC, full spectrum concentrates increase the potency of all the cannabinoids and terpenes naturally found in the marijuana plant. This process renders a potentially more medicinal final product.

  • Concentrates come in many shapes, sizes and consistencies. There are a variety of ways to create cannabis concentrates, some involve solvents such as Ethanol, or CO2, while others only require heat and pressure. Either way the end result is something far more potent than marijuana flower.

  • When a concentrate is live it means that the original plant material used to make the concentrate was frozen before the curing/drying process began. This technique locks in the plants natural high levels of terpenes and cannabinoids before a large amount of them evaporate during the curing process.

  • Sugar hash resin is a live concentrate from Marks Organix, made from top quality fresh frozen cannabis nugs, dry sifted to hash and blasted to perfection.

  • Sauce usually refers to a high terpene non uniform extract.

Distillate: Distillate is an extremely highly processed extract which is often used as the base to most THC edibles and cartridges.

Badder/Budder: Another patient favorite extract from Marks Organix, badder is made from top shelf nug run, whipped to a cake batter consistency. Rich in cannabinoids and terpenes.

Shatter: Flat with a glass like consistency, shatter is a highly processed extract made to maximize THC levels.

Sativa: Less sedative, more cerebral highs, Sativa-dominant strains are great for day use. Said to increase creativity, focus and feelings of well-being. You won’t get as much of a “couch lock” as Indicas.

Indica: More sedative body high. Better for evening use, or times when you want more of a relaxing high. Users like it as a sleep aid, to relieve pain and generally chill.

Health Benefits

Medical Marijuana:

The unique array of compounds found within the cannabis plant make its one of the most powerful and versatile medications on the planet.

Cannabis can help with:

Fighting Cancer, Diabetes, Pain, Crohn’s Disease, Gout, Anxiety, Glaucoma, Opioid Dependence, Asthma , Skin Disorders, IBS, Depression, Migraines, Arthritis and more!

THC is known to stimulate appetite and reduce nausea.

THC can also decrease pain, inflammation, and muscle control problems.

The health benefits associated with CBD, Cannabinol Oil:

Cannabidiol (CBD) is emerging as a powerful supplement, a safe anti-inflammatory that can help several previously untreatable diseases. CBD oil can help fight cancer and irritable bowel disease, improve schizophrenia symptoms, relieve anxiety and help you get more sleep.

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of over 100 cannabinoids, natural compounds found in Cannabis sativa — the marijuana plant.

CBD and THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) are the 2 main active compounds found in the cannabis plant and the most well recognized and studied.

Unlike THC, CBD is not psychoactive. This means it won’t cause all the negative effects linked to THC, like paranoia, anxiety, and memory problems. Instead, it seems to naturally protect against the marijuana high.

CBD has shown promising benefits for a variety of conditions, many of which are otherwise not treatable.
